From the very beginning of the fourth campaign, fresh DM Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a colorful mix of characters, and a gripping narrative featuring divine entities, demons, and dark forces expanding in strength within the urban setting.
Heads-up: Revealing details for the latest installment of Campaign 4 follow below.
The Warrior Group Unveiled
The third episode concluded with a major cliffhanger and revealed the first table of adventurers who will separate from the main group to begin their independent quest, apart from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table consists of Teor Pridesire (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), the strong-willed figure (Whitney Moore), Wicander (Sam Riegel), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie).
Why Split the Party?
With 13 cast members, it was obvious from the beginning that maintaining everyone at a single group would be impossible.
Hence, the first four episodes of this story serve as an Introduction, connecting the personal journeys before branching into three separate parties: Warriors, Strategists, and Questers.
Characteristics of the Soldiers Table
According to Brennan Lee Mulligan, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who are drawn to a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are rare.
At first glance, characters like the hesitant healer Wicander Halovar might appear unsuited, but the actions of the third episode show why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Reasons to Leave
For one thing, the party knows exactly where to proceed after a brutal opening clash with the antagonists.
An old friend of Thjazi—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited The Crow Keepers for his personal gain, entering the secret base, attacking the rogue, and taking all the powerful objects to auction.
The traitor then cleared his debts and escaped to a secure base in Gormalay, Timmony, above the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each character has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- Thimble, as the companion and best friend, seeks revenge.
- The knowledgeable figure has experience in the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous environment.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead freed him, have nowhere else to go.
- However, their position as key figures in House Halovar could assist the group reach places they normally couldn’t.
- Furthermore, Teor pledged a eternal obligation to The cleric for his rescue and will now go with him anywhere.
Wanted and Hunted
Finally, all of them are wanted by the authorities that rule the city for a range of causes, making lingering locally dangerous:
- The rogue and The hero are known criminals.
- The warrior and The healer defied House Halovar and the army of fiends they are allied with.
- The target is marked for death by the clan.
This means them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in search of the traitor.
What’s Next?
From episode three’s follow-up content, we learn that the Soldiers table will be absent next week, leaving the other eight players to round up the Explorers and Schemers parties.
Viewers can anticipate finding out which players will be assigned to which table in the season’s last Overture episode, released on next week.
